Features (Film)

Shorts (Film)
Original Short films are no longer than 45 minutes. (Student submissions accepted)
Animation (Film)
All forms of animation will be considered.
Mini's (Cell Phone, PDA, iPod, etc) (Film)
As a new medium, we are looking for new ideas and innovative stories. The capability to play on the small cell phone / pda screen is crucial. Can you tell a story? Or just make people watch?
Music Video (Film)
Rough, Tough and RAW. A music video is shot almost every 15 minutes somewhere in the world. So they say. Accepted submissions will be screened throughout the Festival as well as featured.
Music Documentary (Film)
A Documentary Film with a music concentration. All forms of music are encouraged. Experimental approaches encouraged.
Special Features (Film)
Special Features exists so film makers can produce movies that do not fit in the typical genre based mold. IF you have produced a movie that you think fits this criteria, use this category for submission.
Real Time Documentary (Film)
The Digital age has ushered in Real Time movie making. Gone are the days when travelers would set off with nothing but a map and a 35mm. Today GPS, Video, smart phones, disposable video cameras, iPhones, palm devices and other mechanical recording devices put the story in the public space in real time. This Category is designed to fill that experience. Where have you been?
Political (Film)
Political films should raise legitimate political questions and / or provide information on political subjects. All forms are accepted for review. Blatant propaganda will be exposed as such.
Travel (Film)
The Travel category is movie

Philadelphia Independent Film Festival accepts no responsibility for loss or damage of entries during shipment to or from Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. Please follow up!
- Entries must be postmarked by May 4th, 2009. You must contact us if this is not possible.
- Entrants must submit two (2) viewing copy for consideration in either DVD, Blu Ray, or MiniDV formats. Contact us for other formats.
- Entry forms and payment will not be processed without an accompanying Preview Copy.
- All entries must be in English or contain English subtitles (unless special arrangements have been made with festival.)
- Please attach (write on the disc!) Contact info, and Film name with Preview Copy when submitting. Use a Sharpie brand pen when possible!
- For publications purposes, if your film/video is selected for screening, we may request at least three electronic images (publicity stills) either in jpeg or PDF format, 300 dpi. Let us know if this is possible.
NOTE: If selected, we also encourage submitting as much publicity material that is available and a complete credit list. We do not require a Press Kit, but if you have one, get it to us. These additional materials cannot be returned. Any materials that entrants wish to be seen by the programming committee should be submitted in duplicate with this application if possible.
- Exceptions to the festival regulations must be authorized by the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival Director.
TERMS AND CONDITIONSPhiladelphia Independent Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Philadelphia Independent Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
SHIPPINGThe cost of shipping an entry to the festival must be paid by the entrant. Collect or C.O.D. shipment will not be accepted. All international entries must be sent "free domicile" to the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival office with all transportation charges, duties, and taxes prepaid by the shipper. Any brokerage fees charged to the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival will be billed back to the shipper. Be sure to include all the proper customs documentation required by the shipping company. Please. :)
